What to Know about Back-to-School
Posted on: August 14, 2025
Here at Cedar Park we are getting excited to welcome students and families to the 2025-2026 academic year. We have lots of great learning and growing to do together!
As your family prepares to begin the new school year, you may find yourself with questions about what to expect. The below are some of our most frequently asked questions and answers.
- When is the first day of school? The first day of school for first through fifth graders is Wednesday, September 3rd. Preschool and Kindergarten students start on Monday, September 8th. You can see our bell schedule here.
- What school supplies do I need to purchase? Cedar Park requests a school supply fee from our families instead of specific school supplies. This allows us to ensure that all students have exactly the right supplies at the right time. All students will have access to supplies regardless of ability to pay the fee. You will receive instructions on how and where to pay the $45 fee at the start of the school year.
- When will we know who our teacher is? You will get an introductory email from your student’s teacher on Thursday, August 28th.
- Can my student meet their teacher before the first day? The PTA is hosting a back-to-school potluck on Tuesday, September 2nd in the park from 3-6 p.m. It is an excellent opportunity to meet staff members and connect with other Cedar Park families. You can sign up to bring an item to the potluck here.
- Is there a Kindergarten transition program like Jump Start at Cedar Park? While Cedar Park doesn’t host a separate transition program in the summer, our Kindergarten and Preschool families are invited to a Family Connection meeting with their student’s teacher during the three weekdays before they start school. This is an opportunity for your student and your family to meet individually with your teacher, see the school and the classroom and have conversations about what the school day will look like and what your goals are for your student. You will get an invitation to sign up for a Family Connection meeting in your welcome email from your teacher.
More information on Cedar Park’s procedures and expectations are available in our Family Handbook. Additionally, our office staff always welcomes questions from our families. You can email them here.
